Tomisin Animashaun is an image creative exploring the intricate interplay and minglings between bodies, spaces, and identities, working to create new narratives and connections of meanings through creative queer dialogue.
Through a process of disorientation, Animashaun’s work weaves a needle’s thought that “matter, matters.” All relating to matter, and all which it relates to and touches. All objects and phenomenon fall within the possibility of being stretched and twisted to invoke new meanings, and new forms of meanings.
Ongoing creative research:
Material Semiotics and The Queer Body
Animashaun’s creative direction is queer phenomenology put into practice, a tangible tapestry in a constant state of knowledge and bodily acqusition, beginning from the thought that “spaces are not exterior to bodies; instead spaces are like a second skin that unfolds in the folds of the body” (Sarah Ahmed, 2006).
The queer body, obscured, misinterpreted, and cast into shadow, holds a vital presence within the intricate dance of material semiotics, where it pulses with the power to steady, unsettle, and realign. In its irreducible essence, the queer body unfolds endless layers of meaning and realms of possibility, transforming spaces into sites of boundless multiplicity, rather than confined perspectives.
